Skiing, Skiing and more skiing

We weren't sure how the boys would do trying to ski but we decided we don't have many opportunities in Utah to try. Trying to teach 4 year olds to ski takes at least 4 adults. One to drive the boat, (duh), one to hold the rope in the boat, one to hold the boys in their skis in the water and one to cheer and take pictures in the event they actually get up. So Aunt Anna, Uncle Nate, Daddy and Mommy loaded all the kiddos up in one of Pap-Pa's boats and headed out to give it at try. Colby, Lauren and Austin waiting to their turn to try.

Colby wasn't real sure about getting out there by himself, not knowing Daddy was going with him.
Pat, relaxing before all the work begins.
Colby was up first. He wasn't real sure he wanted to do it and in fact said many times he would try the next day. The only problem was we were leaving the next day. So Daddy is giving him the big boy pep talk.

And here he goes. Hold on Colby and stand up!
Yeah, he did it. He actually went quite a ways before falling and being such a big boy, he went again.
I was so proud of him as you can only imagine a mom would be. I think the whole lake heard us yelling for him.
Then of course we have Matthew how had no issues getting up and skiing. His whole goal was to make the boys laugh in the boat.
Now it was Austin's turn and we could tell he was going to be a little more difficult than Colby. He really did not want to try but we made him. His expression says it all.
And here he goes. It would have helped him a lot if his skis were out of the water instead of under, but he did great.
Austin pretty much stayed in the squatting position the whole time. He never would stand all the way up. Guess he thought the fall wouldn't hurt as bad if he was closer to the water.
Lauren was the last and she was very determined to get up and ski as you can tell by her expression. She was not going to let any of the boys out due her. Wonder where she gets that mindset, gotta be the Watson blood in her.
Now she is having fun and smiling. She went all over the lake.
Our awesome boat driver and her assistant. Not sure how much of a help Austin was but he enjoyed driving the boat with Aunt Anna.
Our fan club! Lou Lou and Mike had the best seats on the lake to watch all the kiddos. What a great day we had on the lake. All of the kids slept like rocks that night and the adults loved it! I just love going home and taking my family to do the things I grew up doing. I learned to ski on Horseshoe Lake and that is wear Natalie, Sean, Colby and Austin have all learned to ski. That makes it all very special to me and hopefully them as they get older and look back on this blog. All 3 of my boys learned to ski at age 4 and that is something to be proud of. Thanks Pap-Pa for letting us visit and create some awesome memories.
