First snow fall....Oct 25th!

We had our first snow fall last night which resulted in about 2 inches in our yard. My conversation with the boys.

Mommy goes in to wake the boys up for school.

Mommy: Oh boys, wake up, guess what is in our yard.
Austin: Pumpkins
Mommy: No not pumpkins, it's white and cold
Colby jumps out of bed and yells: SNOW
Austin jumps up and says, Oh my gosh, it's Christmas today.

Then the disappointment came when I told them it was not Christmas and that they still had to go to school.

Funnies by Colby and Austin

There are many days that my boys have me in stitches laughing. Some days it's laugh or cry but I wanted to make sure they have some of the funnies to read one day to their kids.

So let's begin.

Mom's in the bedroom cleaning up and Austin comes in holding out his hand.
Austin: Mom here.
Mom not looking: sticks her hand out and says what is it
Austin as he puts it in Mom's hand says: "Smell it"
Mom yells: Ughhhhh what is this?
Austin: Poop
Mom: whose poop?
Austin: Colby's
Mom: What are you doing with Colby's poop
Austin: It was on the floor so I wanted to show you.
Mom gagging severely runs to the bathroom, flushes poop, cleans and sanitizes mom and Austin until hands are red and raw.

Mom goes to find Colby who was on the toilet in the bathroom pooping. Apparently on the way to the bathroom a piece fell out of his underwear so Austin wanted to make sure I knew about it.

Austin and Colby arguing in the kitchen.

Austin to Colby: stop bothering me
Colby: No
Austin: then I am not going to talk to you
Colby: really
Austin: I am not going to talk to you, until, until, until Christmas!
Colby: ok

Mom: Oh I wish that might be true but I bet he talks to you in less than 5 minutes.

****************************************************************************************
Austin getting picked up from school:

Mom: Did you have a good day?
Austin: Yes
Mom: Did you get in trouble today?
Austin: Yes
Mom: What did you do?
Austin: Well I was trying to learn about private parts in the book and Lilo came over laughing and made me laugh too.
Mom: Well that's not nice. What private parts were you learning about?
Austin: The boobies and bum bums because I need to learn about those in the book at school.
Mom: Tomorrow why don't you pick a different book about animals.
Austin: ok but I was really trying to learn about the private parts.

I had him tell Pat about getting in trouble:
Pat: That's my boy!

Gosh I love having boys but what a handful.

First Year of Soccer

One of the best parts about being a mom is seeing my miracle boys grow and learn. It always touches my heart to see them doing something for the first time, when 4 years ago I had no idea if they would be able too. I am not sure who was more excited about Austin and Colby starting soccer this year, me or Pat. Pat took them to buy new cleats and shin guards and I took care of the shorts and jerseys. They were without a doubt the youngest and smallest on their team since most of the kids were 5 and played last year, but they did great. Here is some great team work, Colby is #2 and Austin is #4. They got to pick their own number and I think Austin thought he had to pick #4 because he is four years old.
"hey wait a minute, I have an itch"
Yes, only a mother would do this to her child.
"oh man, it still itches"
Austin not waiting because he is headed for the goal
Both back in action. Both boys scored a goal this year which made them both very happy and Mommy too.
Colby starting off one of the games with his "big kick". He was funny because he would ask, "big kick or little kick?" of course I always said "BIG KICK"
Colby and Austin ready for their first game.
I told them they had to be tougher than that....and here is what I got.
I loved watching them play though Pat kept having to remind me that they are only 4 years old. I just wanted them to at least kick it towards the right goal, which they did the majority of the time. This picture is evidence that Colby was the smallest on the team.
He might be small but he was tough. Must be the Watson blood in him. I know Grandma was looking down proud to see her Grandsons mixing it up with the older kids.
Some nice footwork by both boys. Austin was known to lose his cleat at least once very game and could also be found doing cartwheels during game.
Colby on the other hand like to just run along side of everyone. There were times he would sneak in, get one kick then out for fear of being taken down.
We look forward to next spring and watching to see how they do after playing one season.

20 Year Class Reunion

Wow, where did 20 years go? Our Wynne High School Class Reunion. This quilt was given to a classmate when she graduated and it had all of our names on it.
One of my best friends from High School, Jodi Smith Hess. It was so great to see her. It had been almost 20 years and that is just way too long.
I couldn't have been more proud to take my wonderful husband with me. I know he laughed most of the evening and even the next day but I was glad he got a quick glimpse into what made me who I am today.

Having a good ole time.

It's always nice to know my sis will always be at events like this and it makes me realize how lucky Austin and Colby are because they will always have a best friend.Ok, we are really starting to have a good time.
I got the certificate for coming the longest distance. Over 1,500 miles traveled to visit family and friends.
My other date, Matthew stopped by on his way to Pap-Pa's. I couldn't even get him out on the dance floor.
Of course Lou Lou made our cake...who else!
It was a nice evening with friends that I haven't seen in 20 years. I look forward to the next one, just hope it's not another 20 years.

Skiing, Skiing and more skiing

We weren't sure how the boys would do trying to ski but we decided we don't have many opportunities in Utah to try. Trying to teach 4 year olds to ski takes at least 4 adults. One to drive the boat, (duh), one to hold the rope in the boat, one to hold the boys in their skis in the water and one to cheer and take pictures in the event they actually get up. So Aunt Anna, Uncle Nate, Daddy and Mommy loaded all the kiddos up in one of Pap-Pa's boats and headed out to give it at try. Colby, Lauren and Austin waiting to their turn to try.

Colby wasn't real sure about getting out there by himself, not knowing Daddy was going with him.
Pat, relaxing before all the work begins.
Colby was up first. He wasn't real sure he wanted to do it and in fact said many times he would try the next day. The only problem was we were leaving the next day. So Daddy is giving him the big boy pep talk.

And here he goes. Hold on Colby and stand up!
Yeah, he did it. He actually went quite a ways before falling and being such a big boy, he went again.
I was so proud of him as you can only imagine a mom would be. I think the whole lake heard us yelling for him.
Then of course we have Matthew how had no issues getting up and skiing. His whole goal was to make the boys laugh in the boat.
Now it was Austin's turn and we could tell he was going to be a little more difficult than Colby. He really did not want to try but we made him. His expression says it all.
And here he goes. It would have helped him a lot if his skis were out of the water instead of under, but he did great.
Austin pretty much stayed in the squatting position the whole time. He never would stand all the way up. Guess he thought the fall wouldn't hurt as bad if he was closer to the water.
Lauren was the last and she was very determined to get up and ski as you can tell by her expression. She was not going to let any of the boys out due her. Wonder where she gets that mindset, gotta be the Watson blood in her.
Now she is having fun and smiling. She went all over the lake.
Our awesome boat driver and her assistant. Not sure how much of a help Austin was but he enjoyed driving the boat with Aunt Anna.
Our fan club! Lou Lou and Mike had the best seats on the lake to watch all the kiddos. What a great day we had on the lake. All of the kids slept like rocks that night and the adults loved it! I just love going home and taking my family to do the things I grew up doing. I learned to ski on Horseshoe Lake and that is wear Natalie, Sean, Colby and Austin have all learned to ski. That makes it all very special to me and hopefully them as they get older and look back on this blog. All 3 of my boys learned to ski at age 4 and that is something to be proud of. Thanks Pap-Pa for letting us visit and create some awesome memories.
