Trip up the canyon

On Sunday we decided to drive the up the canyon and have a little picnic and just enjoy the nice weather. It was beautiful all the way up the canyon with fall colors galore. The boys loved walking around Silver Lake and would have stayed all day to watch the ducks. They could not understand why I would not let them touch the ducks.

Gee Daddy what is that? A rock? Really a rock?
I want to touch the ducks
My stick
Can we swim
My favorite 4 boys

But I don't want to sit still
That's funny!
What do you see?
I'm not sure.
We're hungry...the story of our life

First Snow

Just a few pictures to show we really did get snow. The boys were so curious about the snow and loved just standing at the door watching it snow. It will probably only be a few weeks and I think we'll have snow in our yard for the rest of winter.

There's nothing like watching things through the eyes of a child.

Busy little boys

Well we've been super busy lately. I am learning that I sure don't have the free time that I use too since I leave for work each morning around 6:45 and usually pick up the boys around 5:00. I am enjoying my job and I have to say the Air Force isn't too bad either. The best part of my day right now is every morning when I am leaving the boys sit on the garage steps and yell "bye Mommy" and blow kisses. It puts the biggest smile on my face and leaves me with a mental picture to last me all day until I pick them up.

They are both becoming very protective of each other. When I put one in time out it's only a matter of time before the other one voices their opinion about my decision and will usually run tell Pat what I have done. Just the other day I put Austin in time out (he stays there a lot) and Colby told me, "No Mommy, you go to time out". One Saturday during a Texas game Colby put Bevo the stuffed animal in time out and he had to stay there all day.

Let's see...so Pat headed off to Wyoming for several days with my family to hunt. He killed a deer and antelope. While he was gone Colby and I managed to get the stomach flu and Sean followed soon afterwards. I actually missed a day of work. We are all doing much better, but I sure missed Pat being here to help out. I was so weak I could not carry the boys upstairs and it took everything I had to get them to school that morning. Luckily for me they were very cooperative with breakfast, dressing and going into class. I spent the rest of the day in bed until it was time to pick them up.

Colby had his ear follow up on Friday and his ears look great. He also passed his hearing test which he failed the last time he was tested. So it looks like the tubes were the right solution.

Austin is currently sick with the croup. Ok so I didn't know that was a medical diagnosis, I guess I just thought it was a term people used as slang. He is currently on steroids because he has been having such a hard time breathing.
Sean's football season is coming to a close. He has two games left and it has been a rough season after his first awesome game. That was the only game they have won so far. Sean is having a great year but suffers from not having a lot of talent on the team as a whole. We have to remember they are 8 and 9 year old boys and several of them do not want to be hit. He is looking forward to next year since everyone on the team will have played before and will know what to expect. He is doing awesome in school and straight A's of course.
His game Saturday was in the low 40's and raining which then turned to snow. Sunday morning we woke up to about 6 inches of snow. The boys were very excited to see the snow. We are planning to let them out to play in the snow this year. I've been very protective the past two years but they won't catch anything outside that they are not going to catch at school.

Natalie continues to excel in cheer leading but more importantly she had a 4.0 this term. She is of course our teenage social butterfly.
We stopped at a little pumpkin stand to let the boys pick a pumpkin. We are planning to take them on the hayride out to the pumpkin patch like we did last year. Hopefully the weather will be nice this weekend and we can take all the kids out. Natalie and Sean will be on fall break this week as well so that is something for us to look forward too.
